Process of cold-pressed oil
At Tailam, we follow a traditional cold-pressed oil extraction process to produce pure, nutrient-rich oils that are both healthy and delicious oils.
The first step in our process involves carefully cleaning the oilseeds to remove any external particles. We then procure clean and dry seeds and store them in a clean container to ensure their freshness.
Next, we carefully blend our traditional approach of pressing the seeds between grinding stone and wood with modern technology to create an optimal pressing process for each type of oilseed. We subject different oilseeds to varying pressing times for the best possible oil extraction and nutrient/flavor retention.
The oil is then passed through a fine-holed strainer filter to remove any remaining particles and create a pure, healthy cold-pressed oil. After the oil is extracted, it is stored in a container to allow any remaining seed particles to settle at the bottom.
Finally, we package our oils in recyclable containers to maintain their freshness and quality. At Tailam, we are passionate about producing the highest quality cold-pressed oils, using our traditional approach to ensure that our oils retain all their natural goodness.

Process of refined oil
Refined oil has undergone a rigorous mechanical and chemical process to remove the most oil from the seeds, hence lacking nutritional values.
The oilseeds are meticulously cleaned and crushed after being harvested.
The crushed seeds are heated and steamed to begin the oil extraction.
Using a mechanical press, high heat, and friction is applied to extract oils from the seed, producing two by-products, i.e., press cake and raw press oil.
The press cake and oil are washed in a solvent such as hexane and steamed again to extract more oil. Hexane is a chemical produced by refining crude petroleum oil.
The oil is heated to evaporate the hexane, which is collected for further use. The retained oil is then passed for refining.
The obtained oil is refined to remove color, odor, and bitterness. The refining process includes degumming, bleaching, deodorizing, and adding a light citric acid solution to increase its shelf life.
As a result, due to the chemical procedures involved, refined oil lacks beneficial critical components and its natural flavor and aroma. It does more harm to our bodies than good.
